The imp at work inside..

You will agree that there are always two sides at fight within your own self. This battleground remains normally latent, but there are times when it becomes highly conspicuous.

If you are not buying this, let me give you a simple scenario and you would find your doubts melting away. There is always an obstinate unhearing part within you that tells you to retire to the whims of slumber, to gorge when you are trying to keep a tab on your weight, to wake up late, to postpone all works to the nonexistent tomorrow...the list appears endless .

When this imp inside you pushes you to seek the pleasures of sleep, at the same time the sane part instructs you to stay up- reminding you of the things left to be done. Or sometimes when it makes you gape in front of a store window, the sane part reminds you of not missing the miniscule price tag showing the enormous price attached to the manikin. The diet conscious janta would very well agree how hard they have to keep their impish self at check everytime they see a luscious gulab-jamun or a sumptuous platter. There are myriad other examples in the line as well.

Picture this: the night before the exams, a colossal course untouched and you sit sulking on your bed trying hard to muffle those yawns and then behold, you glance at the warm quilt… irrestibly appealing! :P So magnetic that suddenly your impish heart wants nothing more than hitting the sack. Ah the scamp!

Another characteristic of this imp is that it so stubborn that it refuses to learn from any of your past plummets, it makes you forget the painful new year resolutions you took after having suffered the previous year. The ultimate result being you land up in the same situation again and again cursing yourself everytime and making new vows . No matter how many of them you make, they admittedly reach the same fate and would be kept at bay.

Hats off to those whose rational senses are strong enough to put the credulous alter ego at check. There are some fellows who could put their sane parts at the winning podium ignoring the impish temptations. Kudos to those who are adept at this herculean task..

In any case, comprehending this web of emotions and temptations is hard. How two antagonists reside inside you and me and how the battle takes place is part of a complex web that mother nature has weaved, the intricacies of which are hard to fathom. And if at any point you come across the reason how two adversaries could reside under one umbrella, and how the resolute people maintain their resolution against the berserk desires…do lemme know. There are a lot of people who would thank you for sharing your erudition in this regard.
