Tidbits
They said once, ”All Roads lead to Rome ”, and now they would say, “All rails lead to Bengal!”! I guess this is one conclusion that I could make out of the long list of announcements delivered by the Railways Minister. I tried listening to a small excerpt from her budget speech, but it went invain because of her accent, as I had to spend most of my time replacing all ‘bhat’s and ‘bhy’s with whats and ‘why’s :P.
Well February, the shortest month, bustled with a lot of activity, mnik and the budget did muster a lot of heated discussions for themselves. But amongst all the budget and movie talks, February 2010 at the end, would be remembered for the Big magic weaved by the Little Master. His miraculous double ton was serenaded with joy by cricket fans and non-fans, Indians and non-Indians alike. Hail Sachin!
Infact, even the parliament members unanimously applauded the feat achieved by the master by thumping their desks. A scene where all parties decide something in complete unison, is rarely seen in Indian parliament where simple announcements often spark off slanders, boycotts, brouhaha and the helpless efforts of a tired Speaker trying to settle things down.
In any case, March has been ushered in and so has the hockey world cup. Hopes are high and lets hope March too is grafted with some miracles, this time from the hockey stick. But before that wishes for a Happy Holi. Holi is a festival of fun and masti, but sometimes it takes an ugly turn. ‘Bura na mano Holi hai’ tagline seems to be giving full authority to some to practice anything they want with impunity. On Holi, you could play, dance, have thandais, pull your friends into colors(even against their will :P) but alas sometimes its not restricted to just these and that’s when Holi’s spirit gets tainted.
I enjoy playing with colors and have had some of my most memorable Holis soaked into the skin :P. But this time I preferred to stay out of Holi colors considering the effects of the chemicals. However I did spend some really good time with my loved ones and this salvaged the meaning of Holi for me : fun and masti
